Our intensive will be at two locations in Black Mountain, NC. Friday and Saturday will be at the Common Light Meeting House. Sunday will be at the Black Mountain Public Library. Both locations have good accessibility.

Our meeting facilities do not have housing. Gayle, our registrar, can help you find housing to meet your needs.

Options include:

  • Hotels and B&Bs in Black Mountain
  • Heron House, a retreat space for women, located in east Asheville – about 20 minutes from our intensive locations
  • Limited community housing

Heron House is situated on three acres in the peaceful Rice Valley, the Heron House has circle, art, and dining spaces, with a range of sleeping spaces. The Heron House is available on a first come basis. Please make arrangements directly with the owner and let Gayle know if you are open to having additional women join you.

Getting here

Black Mountain is off Interstate 40, a few miles east of Asheville.

The nearest airports are:

  • Asheville (AVL) – 30-40 minutes from Black Mountain, depending on traffic
  • Greenville, SC (GSP) – 90-120 minutes from Black Mountain
  • Charlotte (CLT) – 2 hours from the Black Mountain

We have limited ability to pick up attendees at AVL or you can take a bus into Asheville. When flying into Greenville or Charlotte, you will likely need to rent a car or take a bus to Asheville. We can help coordinate car shares. Once in Black Mountain, circle members can help you get between your lodging and the workshop if you don’t have a car.

Travel timing

The intensive starts on Friday evening at 7 pm and ends Sunday at 1 pm. Please allow plenty of travel time before and after the intensive, especially if you would like us to pick you up at the airport.

Black Mountain is one of the most beautiful towns of its size and Asheville is a happening area to visit – consider arriving early and/or staying longer. The Heron House is available before and after our weekend for extended stays or you can stay in town.

Cost for this intensive is $190. A $75 deposit is required to hold your place. $50 of your deposit will be refunded if you cancel by March 31 or if someone on the waiting list can fill your spot. You may transfer the full amount of your deposit to another woman at any time.

The cost includes all instruction and materials.

Food and housing are not included.

Meals are not provided for the intensive. Black Mountain has a wide range of restaurants and food stores to suit any dietary preference.

Please plan to eat dinner before or after our session. We won’t have a meal break.

The Saturday schedule has a one-hour lunch break and two-hour dinner break. The Saturday lunch break does not provide enough time to leave the site. We will coordinate an order from a local restaurant and you are also welcome to bring your own food. The meeting space has a microwave and refrigerator that can be used for personal food.

On Sunday we will meet at the Black Mountain Public Library, which does not permit food in the community room. We will have a short break during the session and you are welcome to eat food that you brought outside during the break.
